So who really believes that the Spice Girls didn't fall out/argue/have volcanic tantrums/chuck the toys out of their collective prams on their recent tour and that, instead, their tour bus was an oasis of peace, light and girl power?
Does anyone actually care?
[thinks]
Yeah, I figured as much.

As mentioned last week the demand for Nik Kershaw's solo acoustic gig at The Cellars in Portsmouth on Saturday 31st May was so great that, after selling out in no time flat, a second date at the venue the next evening, Sunday 1st June, was hastily arranged. It should, therefore, be no surprise that the hastily arranged gig has sold out too. Wouldn't it be good if I'd bought tickets in time?
Indie club night Waster this evening features guest DJs Mike Fielding (aka Naboo from The Mighty Boosh) and Jonny Rhythm (from The Rhythm Factory), plus live music from Trash Money and Hold Fast. Doors open 2200 through to 0230 and it's a mere £1 entry before 2300 (£3 after), though you could always try dressing up as Tony Harrison and blagging your way in for nowt.
Folk artist Tim Hassall and acoustic bluesman Andy Matheson are the guests at Roger Courtney's Open Mike Club tomorrow night, Thursday 7th February, in The Barn at The Milton Arms in Portsmouth. The Open Mike session follows the guest spots at 2115, with the usual two song limit for those wanting to take the stage and entertain the crowd. Admission is FREE and the doors open at 1900.
Stansted Park will again be hosting musical entertainment in its grounds this Summer, with an 80s themed line-up announced for Sunday 20th July courtesy of the Here & Now Tour. The bill so far announced includes Midge Ure, Nick Heyward, Toyah, Limahl, Curiosity Killed The Cat, Kid Creole & The Coconuts and T'Pau. Tickets are £25 and are on sale now (concessions are available for party bookings). Right, let's fire up the Quattro!
Southampton's Talking Heads will be holding an evening in aid of Strummerville, the Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music, on Saturday 9th February. The charity, set up by friends of the late Clash front man to reflect his contribution to music, offers support, resources and performance opportunities to artists who would not normally have access to them. The line-up includes The Good Time Charlies, The Flying Alexanders and Bang Bang Lulu, plus DJ Breezeblok, with tickets £6 in advance.
Put a fork in me, I'm done. This afternoon I have mostly been listening to Just Like Blood and All Maps Welcome by the most excellent Tom McRae. Join me next week when I'll be wondering "just where does the time go when it's not around here?"
:o)
